About Me
Kaley Johnson
Certified Yoga Ashtanga, Vinyasa Flow, Kundalini, and Pranayama Instructor.
I grew up in a small prairie town in central Alberta where I have deep roots in my family and friends. I am proud to say that my childhood friends are still my best friends along with my parents and siblings. Growing up I was always outside running around in nature, from camping, hiking, and canoeing in the summertime to snowboarding, cross country skiing, and simply just playing in the snow in the wintertime. Adventure is always around the corner! I found a passion for traveling after high school when I traveled to New Zealand for 6 months on a work visa. Since then, I have explored many other countries and I love diving into different cultures and ways of thinking.
After New Zealand, I started my apprenticeship to become an electrician and now have 14 years under my belt in the industry. I like to tell people I have a thing for energy from the respect of electricity to the harnessing of energy within our magnificent bodies.
I started practicing yoga about 12 years ago when I was working away in a northern Alberta camp. I fell in love instantly and began practicing as much as I could.
Eventually, I started teaching my family, friends, and co-workers and discovered my passion. As rewarding as it is to have my own practice of yoga, I realized how good it made me feel to share this with others. In 2017 I traveled to India where I received my 200-hour Ashtanga, Vinyasa Flow, and Pranayama teacher training. During the covid pandemic I took the opportunity to deepen my practice and teaching journey and began studying Kundalini Yoga. This profound practice of harnessing the energy within our bodies and the universal forces all around us fascinated me and called to my entire being. In August 2021 I received my 200-hour Kundalini teacher training after five months of immersed study and practice. I have learned so much through the years from so many students and teachers and I am forever grateful. I look forward to helping you to discover your best self!
With gratitude, thanks for taking the time to get to know me! If you have any questions about yoga, my classes, or my teaching techniques please message me! I am always happy to answer questions and meet new people!
If you are interested in taking a class, you can start with a free discovery class. It is a 30-minute private introductory session to my yoga practice. This gives us a chance to meet and you can see if my style suits your needs.
I look forward to hearing from you!
About My Classes
WHAT TO EXPECT
For me yoga is creating a relationship with yourself, on a physical, emotional, mental, and energetic level. Yoga (Sanskrit) - meaning union or yoking. Connecting our minds to our bodies, tapping into our senses and subtle energies. Our breath is the bridge to this union and one of the so many tools in this wonderful practice. Yoga is for everyone and anyone who wants to feel more connected, more at ease, and more empowered in their own skin. In my classes, you will learn pranayama breathing techniques, mantra mediation, mudra hand gestures, and our anatomical structure through asana in yin, hatha, vinyasa and kundalini practices.
We move our bodies to stimulate, to circulate, and to stir up anything stagnant causing dis-ease. We find a balance between flexibility and strength, exertion and releasing, projecting, and receiving. We connect to our chakra energy centers, stimulate our nervous system, and cleanse our glands and organs for optimal performance. Yoga is available in so many ways and can be practiced anywhere at any time. By simply becoming aware of the present moment, tuning into the breath, the body, and thought patterns. By stopping to smell the roses, moving your body in any way that feels good, finding gratitude and appreciation at any moment. By practicing conscious awareness.
